Google says when Microsoft’s products fail, it wields patents

Google’s patent counsel, Tim Porter, said in an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle that the currently in use system of patent registration for software was mainly to blame for the series of lawsuits started by Microsoft and other companies against the Android operating system. As Porter said, the current law allows Microsoft to use its large patent portfolio acquired over several years to obtain revenue from other firms when the success of their products stops and their products are marginalized. 85 to 90 percent of Apple Stores are running out of the new iPhone 4S daily

Chris Whitmore, Deutsche Bank analyst, says that Apple Stores are regularly running out of stock for the iPhone 4S. In a recent poll including 30 locations, most of them were found running out of the iPhone 4S daily. As Whitmore says, 85-90 percent of all shops continue to run out of phones.

HP’s home notebook production to be moved from China to Japan

Japanese business daily publication The Nikkei claims that Hewlett Packard will move its consumer-oriented notebook production destined to the Japanese market from the current Chinese location to its plant situated near Tokyo. According to the company, the goal of this change would be to reduce delivery time and simplify logistics, but also to use a “Made in Japan” tag in marketing campaigns. Hewlett Packard also moved the production of business laptops in Akishima this year in August.

Disney and YouTube to team for kid-friendly video content

YouTube and Disney said they are cooperating on a co-branded collection of family-friendly videos that they intend to bring available online. Videos will be produced by Disney Interactive for both YouTube and Disney.com. Free online video content made for Disney’s core audiences would be made available in early 2012 on both outlets.

Several German lawyers contacted by Florian Mueller of FOSS Patent have insinuated that Apple could get a temporary suspension of the German Motorola injunction. As Mueller said, although there is no guarantee, Apple may get a suspension of the injunction that would give it the occasion to put forward its defense properly

Sony Ericsson Nozomi, the first company’s phone with a micro-SIM, has appeared in iAndroid . It is supposed to receive to be called Xperia Arc HD, its name coming from its very sharp 4.3-inch screen with 720-pixel resolution that puts it on par with its rivals like the HTC Rezound. It has a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, probably a Snapdragon, sufficient to obtain a quite fast 1,800-point Quadrant benchmark score.

European Union deal asks for airwaves clear for 4G until 2013

Three important European regulatory bodies have agreed to a plan to create free bandwidth for LTE 4G phone networks. The European Commission, European Parliament and states members in the European Council have agreed to set wireless spectrum aside for high-speed mobile networks by the 1st of January 2013. The necessary bandwidth has to be made available by auctioning off access frequencies that are currently used to convey analog TV broadcasts
