Image: Courtesy PlayStation The Sony PlayStation Vita officially launches today, bringing with it over two dozen games and a host of promises. Without a new version of the PlayStation console announced, Sony is clearly counting on the PS Vita to restore some of the prestige lost in the gaming world with the troubles dogging its PlayStation Network. Whether that will happen remains to be seen, of course, but I can say that the Vita is a remarkable achievement in handheld gaming devices

Somehow I missed Brixton Brothers Book 3 when it came out last October (my own detective skills need some brushing up), but my favorite kid detective Steve Brixton is at it again in It Happened on a Train . For reasons you may guess if you read Book 2 , Steve is disillusioned and has given up on detective work.

After watching some old episodes, my kids were asking me how these films make their characters move — they were surprised to find it wasn’t done with computers like Pixar films. Their next question was inevitably, “Can we do something like this, dad?” This led to some hurried investigation and trial runs on my part, but before long I got to the point where it seemed totally doable to create these animations with them.
