So what do you do when you need to shoot a giant perfectly-choreographed dance troupe performing when you only have a handful of dancers? Well that's easy. You just construct a gigantic sixty-foot tall kaleidoscope and have them perform right beneath its lens.

Photo: Matt Blum Two weeks ago, I had the great privilege of seeing The Avengers at its world premiere in Hollywood, and of attending the film’s press conferences the following day. As I’m forbidden from publishing my review of the movie until Monday (sneak preview: It’s great!), I can at least share with you the video I took of the press conferences and host a cool giveaway! Each video lasts about a bit under a half hour

AOL has had a few knocks from shareholders over whether it’s on the right track with its content strategy — a mix of high-volume, ad-based websites that cover lifestyle, tech, travel, news and more — but CEO Tim Armstrong has stayed the course, and today the company is launching a video portal that it hopes will prove that the value of those holdings extends beyond even what you see on the sites themselves. AOL On , as the new site is called, is a premium content portal that will work across desktop, mobile and tablet optimized sites and apps, as well as connected TV devices. But we totally did. Smoopa, a mobile commerce app I wrote about yesterday , is also the by-product of a little love story

It’s 4/20, and you know exactly what that means: It’s National DNA Day! (What, were you expecting something else?) Yep — this is the official day to commemorate the 1953 publishing of the first scientific paper on the double-helix structure of DNA , which was famously co-authored by James Watson and Francis Crick (with the sometimes overlooked contributions of others .) Anyway, to celebrate, educational non-profit powerhouse Khan Academy has announced a partnership with personal genetics testing company 23andMe to “promote the importance of genetics education.” Specifically, this means that Khan Academy’s website now has educational videos produced by 23AndMe on topics such as Genetics 101 . Now when people ask me what’s so cool about genetic testing, I can send them a link to a Khan Academy video! Nice
